Papaya Santula(Famous Odiya Papaya Recipe)

Ingredients
1 Raw papaya (500gms)
1 Medium size chopped onions
2 Chopped Green Chilies
1 Large size chopped tomatoes
7-8 Curry leaves
1 tablespoon crushed Ginger
1 tablespoon Sugar (optional)
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon cooking Oil
Instructions For Making Papaya Santula With Step By Step Pictures
- Peel off the raw papaya and wash properly. Cut in to cube size small pieces.
- Take a deep hot pan and add 1tbsp of oil. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. Allow it to splutter.
- After spluttering, add chopped onions and green chilies. Fry till it turns to translucent. Then mix crushed ginger. Fry till it turns into the golden brown.
- Add cut papaya into it. Add salt according to the taste. Mix these ingredients and Cover it for 5 minutes in a slow flame.
- Add chopped tomatoes and allow it to cook for 2 minutes in a slow flame by covering the mixture. Now the tomatoes become mushy. If you want sweetness you can add 1tbsp of sugar.
- Pour 1 glass of warm water into it. Allow it to cook for 10 minutes in a slow flame by covering the mixture. Now you can see the papaya looking soft. Switch off the flame.
- Serve the papaya Santula with hot rice or chapati.
